When it comes to weddings, London is one of the best cities to find that perfect spot—from riverside spaces with skyline views to wild and whimsical nature reserves.

Now, grab your something new, something borrowed, and something blue, and let’s dive in together—hand in hand—to digitally explore the best wedding reception venues in London.

Why Choosing the Right Wedding Reception Venue is Important

First up, we should discuss why exactly you need to choose the right wedding reception venue.

To begin with, your wedding venue is so much more than just a pretty backdrop—it sets the entire mood for your big day. Whether you’re dreaming of an elegant ballroom or a laid-back rustic setting, the venue defines the overall vibe. The ambience, the guest experience—it all starts with choosing the best wedding reception venue in London for you.

Plus, the venue plays a mahoosive role in setting the scene for those stunningly picture-perfect moments. From breathtaking city views to intimate candle-lit interiors, the right venue and a skilled photographer ensure those sweet, sweet memories last forever.

And now, without further ado, I will share my top ten favourite venues.

art’otel London Battersea

Luxury with a creative twist

Location: Battersea

For those seeking killer venues for wedding receptions, art’otel Battersea is a strong way to start the list.

A wedding here offers an all-in-one unforgettable experience. Imagine a rooftop ceremony with one of London’s most Instagrammable backdrops: the Battersea Power Station chimneys. With the award-winning JOIA Restaurant (delish), a rooftop infinity pool, and each hotel within the brand featuring a different Signature Artist who has carefully crafted an immersive aesthetic, this venue just screams luxury with a creative twist.

You can even treat yourself and your guests to an overnight stay in an Art Room or Masterpiece Suite with interiors and amenities to truly relax and inspire.

Folklore

An edgy, unique wedding party venue

Location: Hoxton

This little gem in Hoxton has the most beautiful vibes: think exposed brick walls, fairy lights, and an intimate dance floor where your guests can party to Powfu (or someone else, if you really want) until the early hours. It’s small but mighty, offering one of the most unique wedding reception venues in London.

Located in Shoreditch, minutes from Columbia Road and Brick Lane, this venue is ideal for couples who want their wedding to feel like a laid-back, stylish house party with a touch of rustic charm. Plus, they have an on-site one-bedroom flat available for hire—perfect for after the celebrations wind down.

The Queen’s House

For grandeur, history, and magic

Location: Greenwich

Once built for James I’s queen as a ‘House of Delight’, you can exchange your vows in the Great Hall, which features classical Palladian style and Italian Bardiglio and Belgian marble floors, venture out to the South Lawn and Colonnade to enjoy sweeping views of Greenwich Park, or hold a drink reception at the Orangery and South Parlours, where French Doors open out onto the lawns and views of Greenwich Park and the Royal Observatory beyond.

The Undercroft is a series of three vaulted rooms below the Great Hall which is the perfect after-dinner space to dance and celebrate, and the whole overall vibe is pretty magical. This space is part of Royal Museums Greenwich, a unique collection of five historic venues which are home to pioneering architecture and astronomy, British art, and a rich maritime history, situated in the heart of Greenwich. Pretty cool, if you ask me.

Sky Garden

London’s highest landscaped public garden

Location: Aldgate

Why settle for a standard venue when you can say your vows at London’s highest landscaped public garden?

Whether you want an elegant sit-down dinner or a lively cocktail-style reception, Sky Garden’s flexible event spaces can be tailored to fit pretty much anything your heart desires. Panoramic city views? Check. Lush greenery ideal for stunning wedding photography? Also check. A seamless and unforgettable wedding day? They’ve got you <3

116 Pall Mall

The charm of London’s Georgian heritage

Location: Westminster

If you’re after a classic, elegant wedding reception venue, 116 Pall Mall is it. With its Regency architecture, a sweeping grand staircase, and multiple stunning rooms to choose from, this venue is a real landmark of London’s Georgian heritage.

The Nash Room, my personal favourite room, exudes a certain old-world charm with grand chandeliers and opulent interiors. If a full weekend hire is what you’re after, this venue is pretty ideal, offering a grand yet intimate celebration just brimming with class.

Somerset House

18th-century charm with breathtaking panoramic city views

Location: Covent Garden

Few venues rival the grandeur of Somerset House, with its breathtaking riverside views, neoclassical architecture, and a variety of gorgeous historic rooms.

You can choose from multiple event spaces, including the Portico Rooms, which offer floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views of the London skyline, and the Navy Board Rooms, which is steeped in 18th-century charm. Two private balconies provide stunning backdrops for Juliet-esque wedding photography, while the grand courtyard adds an extra touch of cinematic magic.

Simply, it’s iconic.

Camley Street Natural Park

Wildflowers, pavilions, and the perfect oasis

Location: Kings Cross

Tucked away by Regent’s Canal, this nature reserve offers an escape from the city while being just minutes from King’s Cross. Filled with wildflowers, scenic paths, and wooden structures blending into the greenery, this is a truly beautiful setting for a rustic wedding.

Just imagine how cute it would be! You could exchange vows outside with a backdrop of vibrant blooms, followed by a relaxed reception in the eco-friendly pavilion. The thought of it alone is so adorable that I’m smiling whilst typing.

ZSL London Zoo

The perfect venue with the world’s most incredible animals

Location: Regent’s Park

Honestly, this venue is my dream. How iconic to say your vows whilst surrounded by some of the world’s most incredible animals!

With two event spaces available which can be tailored to your vision, this venue caters to both intimate and large-scale weddings. If you fancy adding an extra touch of magic, consider booking an exclusive animal experience for your guests and create once-in-a-lifetime wedding memories.

Plus, don’t forget to invite me. I promise I’m cool.

Walthamstow Wetlands

Where rich industrial heritage meets serene natural spaces

Location: Walthamstow

For couples who want to escape the city without leaving London, Walthamstow Wetlands offers wildflowers and serene reservoirs, making it ideal for those who are after something rustic and romantic, whilst surrounded by nature.

The Engine House, the main event space which doubles as a locally listed building with rich industrial heritage, features charming exposed brick walls and large windows flooding the space with natural light. It’s super pretty, honestly.

Plus, all venue hire profits go back into supporting the London Wildlife Trust, so your wedding can help protect the city’s natural spaces. What more could you want?

Greenwich Yacht Club

An iconic romantic riverside venue

Location: Greenwich

This venue is a real hidden gem, offering two beautiful spaces: the Clubhouse, which reaches over the river (pretty cool), and the River Rooms, which features massive floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city skyline.

Located right near the O2, the Greenwich Yacht Club is also super easy to get to. This venue is perfect for those who envision a relaxed summer wedding or a laidback riverside reception that will be remembered forever by everyone involved.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book my wedding reception venue?

For the best selection, aim to book 12-18 months in advance. London venues get snapped up quickly!

Are there wedding venues in London that allow outside catering?

Yes! Many venues, like Folklore and Camley Street Natural Park, offer flexibility with catering. It all depends on what exactly you desire.

What’s the difference between a wedding reception and a wedding ceremony?

The ceremony is where you exchange vows, while the reception is the celebration that follows—aka the partaaay!

What are some wedding tips I should know?

Finally, if you’d like to hear some of my personal wedding venue tips, I’ll start by saying that choosing wisely can save you a lot of stress: many couples underestimate the venue’s capacity, forget about restrictions, or even book too late.

Then, taking note of the capacity and guest list, reviewing catering and bar options, considering costs and budgeting, and applying for all of these things in advance can make the whole experience so much sweeter.
