London is a hub of talented and creative people, making it a fantastic place to get involved in the world of dance. With so many great studios to choose from when it comes to rehearsal space, it can be difficult narrowing them down, so here’s a breakdown of some of the coolest and very best on offer.
The London Dance Academy is such a fantastic blank canvas that it actually operates as a multi-purpose, bespoke event space, able to meet a whole range of different needs. It is however, first and foremost a wonderful rehearsal space for dancers, with 3 studio rooms as well as an onsite changing room and toilet facilities. With ample space for up to 100 dancers and great links to the rest of the city courtesy of its close proximity to transport links including Old Street, Barbican and Farringdon stations, it is a practical, well-appointed and no frills venue.
Coate Studios is a converted loft style venue just off Hackney Road in East London, putting it in the heart of what is arguably the city’s most famous creative district and coolest area, renowned for its trendy vibe. The space itself has a simple, white walled finish that makes it adaptable and yet it has its own sense of character and charm thanks to the beams overhead and the large windows that let in lots of natural light. Altogether, there’s a capacity of more than 100, whilst nearby transport options include Cambridge Heath, Bethnal Green and Hoxton stations.
Jet Studios is located in Parsons Green, just a few minutes’ walk from the tube station of the same name, and within easy reach of popular London areas including Fulham, Chelsea and the historic King’s Road. The bright, airy space can be kitted out to suit many different needs, with bespoke quotes available upon enquiry. From start to finish, the events team will happily work with you to bring everything together in the most hassle-free manner possible. It is also a rarity in that it offers access to free off-street parking, a very helpful and much sought-after bonus in London venues.
The Arch Collective is a stylish, modern space that benefits from an abundance of natural light. In fact, it leads on to some additional outdoor space, complete with artificial grass, all-weather furniture and BBQ facilities, should you wish to step out for some fresh air and refreshment once you’ve worked up a sweat. The capacity allows for up to 70 people to attend the rehearsals, with high ceilings and climate control keeping things comfortable. For those travelling from throughout the city, nearby rail links include Bermondsey, South Bermondsey and Surrey Quays.
Arcola Theatre is very much passionately engaged within the local community, championing international and representative theatre. The light, airy space is therefore proudly offered up as a rehearsal space to the up-and-coming artists and performers of the future both from within the surrounding area and further afield. With a capacity of 100 and a location that is just a mere stone’s throw from both Dalston Junction and Dalston Kingsland stations, it is also a highly practical choice that is well connected and easily reached from throughout London.
