Planning a corporate event in South East London? Still haven’t found the right venue? Don’t worry, we’ve compiled the following selection of some of the very best on offer in the area to save you both time and effort.
If you want a space that brings an instant hit of atmosphere and character, Asylum Chapel could be just the ticket. Full of history, this Grade II listed building dates back to 1826 and survived bombing during WWII, meaning it has a wonderfully captivating distressed look that makes it a must see for lovers of raw and rustic charm. From crumbling walls to stained glass windows, the many striking features on offer have made it a popular choice as a backdrop for a wide range of event types, including corporate gatherings.
Buster Mantis is a bar, café and multi-purpose creative space in Deptford, just a minute’s walk from the station of the same name, for convenient access from throughout the city. As a warehouse space beneath two railway arches, it has an industrial vibe that is very much on trend within the events scene. One side functions primarily as a cocktail bar and dining room, whilst the other holds everything from art exhibitions to workshops and club nights, with a total capacity of 200 altogether.
If you need something considerably larger in scale to accommodate a hefty guest list, Hawker House, with its 2500-person capacity, is well worth considering. With 16 food traders and 9 bars all found under one roof, there’s certainly not a shortage of options when it comes to organising catering. With the addition of the Land of Bamboo outside area – which is a tiki playground complete with bars, trampolines and delicious street food, it can in fact accommodate as many as 3500 guests in the summer.
In contrast, if you want your event to have a more low-key, intimate feel, for 100 or fewer guests, The Bottle Shop in Bermondsey is a great option. As a craft beer shop, they offer an impressive selection of more than 350 bottles and a varied choice of craft beer kegs. This makes them much sought-after for tasting events, ideal as a corporate networking event or ice-breaker. With tube stops and a train station within comfortable walking distance, it’s as easy to reach for those travelling from outside the city as it is for those coming from across London.
Despite having a relatively small capacity of 70 – making it ideal if you want to bring a more personal touch to the occasion and have time to be hands on with your guests – The Arch Collective feels bright, spacious and airy courtesy of its neutral modern finish, high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling glass doors which lead onto an attractive outside space. This additional area boasts artificial grass, all-weather furniture and BBQ facilities, with handy extras back in the interior which include CCTV cameras and climate control.
