In all of London there are few locations as unique as those occupied by the Royals. Saatchi is no exception to this rule, being located in the prestigious and well known HQ building owned by the Duke of York. In fact, it’s a venue covering 70,000 square feet of stunning finish that will quite literally take your breath away. There are a total of three separate and unique floors, including interlinked areas. Each of them is finished in the finest wood, and includes the latest in lighting technology, with Barasol lamps creating what feels like natural daylight. They can of course be dimmed to suit, either highlighting or muting the artwork of the incredible gallery. Steps from both Sloane and Victoria Stations, it’s easily accessible from a number of public transport options.
There are countless old Victorian era warehouses throughout London. Some have the charm of a once glorious building that’s now faded into history, while others like the Swan Wharf venue have been maintained and even modernised. It consists of an area covering more than 25,000 square feet of both interior and exterior event space in a brilliant location, located along the River Lea on an old ford lock. You can see the Olympic Park from here, and enjoy the waterfront views as well from either of the two large floors available in this uniquely funky event space. Additionally, while it’s charming location does put it a bit farther away than other more central venues in London, it’s still easily walkable, at just 20 minutes or so from Hackney Wick, and not much farther from Stratford, at about 30 minutes.
One of the best studio complex event spaces to be found in West London, the Loft Studios venue offers an amazing array of possibilities. How those possibilities are brought to life is entirely up to you, and depends on the theme and decorations you choose to add to this decadently funky location. With more than 12,000 square feet of space at your disposal, you’ll be welcomed to stunning vaulted wood ceilings featuring exposed beams, exposed brickwork throughout, hardwood floors, and even skylights. A great blank canvas for those who wish to do something truly unique with their wedding and reception, there’s plenty of space to accommodate in house catering too. Everything is also easily accessible by tube, at less than 15 minutes from either Kensal Green or Wilesden Junction.
A marriage of industrial history and crumbling old Victorian brickwork, MC Motors is the most funky venue on our list of what’s cool and crazy in London. It’s offers more than 6,000 square feet of character and charm, with massive skylights bringing it all to life. There are a number of chic and eclectic furnishings in place which can easily be moved or adjusted to suit. The iron rafter supports make the ideal place to hang lighting and decoration themes, and the hardwood floors aren’t perfect, meaning that a wee bit more wear and tear or a minor spill isn’t going to be an issue. However, the coolest thing is the old Victorian street that runs right through the middle of the place – as it’s been untouched over the years and is absolutely brilliant. Best of all, the location is easily accessible at about five minutes walk from the Dalston Kingsland station.
