How to pick the perfect season for your wedding
Reading Time: 2 minutes

One of the first questions you and your spouse should ask before setting a wedding date is which season do you want your wedding to be set in. Each of the seasons come with their special attributes, and it might be difficult to choose. To help you with your decision, we spoke to London-based luxury wedding planner Kavita Golia and asked for her top tips on how to choose the right season for your wedding.

Summer sunshine or winter wonderland?

Autumn and winter wedding are becoming increasingly popular amongst brides and grooms everywhere. An autumn wedding can be gorgeous with rustic colours and warming canapes, whereas winter wonderland wedding opens a world of opportunities in terms of styling the venue.

Spring is thought to be the season of rebirth, growth and purity — you also have a good chance of being lucky with nice weather, meaning you can have a venue which is partially outdoors.

Despite the surge in autumn and winter weddings’ popularity, summer is still the hot favourite — it is not called the wedding season for nothing. The weather is (for the most part) lovely, it is easier to get time off work and if you have children, you don’t have to worry about them missing any school. Venues can get booked up very early for summer weddings, so try to book your dream venue as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

What season suits you the most?

The most important thing is to choose what resonates with you as a couple. What is your favourite season? Do you have a special connection with a certain season or holiday, such as Halloween or Christmas? These are the things that are significant when you choose when to arrange your big day.

The style of your wedding is also very dependent on the season. “I am personally a huge fan of candles, whatever the season”, Kat says. “They can work either outside (depending on weather, of course – we are in the UK after all) or at cosy winter wedding where guests can drink mini hot chocolates in candlelight.”
