Our 12th CANVersion award, goes to the stunning Sizona Location. Bravo 🥳
If there was a ‘Mount Rushmore’ of Canvas venues – Sizona would be on it without a shadow of doubt. Our longest tenured partner, we’ve been working together for 11(!) years. Roy Hodgson was England manager, the iPhone 5 had just been released and season 3 of GoT was gracing our screens. What a time, eh.
Nestled in the heart of EC1, this 2000ft2 minimalist apartment can essentially be whatever you want it to be. A converted warehouse, it has played host to events for some of the biggest brands out there – Like have you ever heard of Apple or Mircosoft? Couple of up ‘n coming businesses let me tell you.
It’s wildly versatile and can be completely transformed. It’s been the home of a fully interactive Cadburys ‘hunt the white egg’ Easter event, a traditional Italian piazza, a living greenhouse event for Air BnB, even a set for the hugely popular Killing Eve series. Most recently it’s played host to Amazon’s prime day, where the space was used as the Hype house. Plus a myriad of photoshoots, which somehow all look as sleek as each other, whilst not obviously being taken in the same place.
Set over 2 floors, with 3 entrances, a gorgeous patio and a bunch of just… well… really cool stuff. Exposed brick walls, a Tom Dixon light, a funky egg chair, concrete floors, a fabulous Space Girl art from the ‘60s, a spiral staircase, a chopper bike and a tremendous bath tub (honestly, you gotta see this thing). It also includes an adjustable screen, which can be used to cut the space in half. Whack in the movable furniture, seating, meeting table and flipchart…. And it covers just about every base.
What struck us as we visited is just how calm and peaceful the venue is. You’d think with it being a few minutes from Old Street it would be all sirens, glass breaking and shouting but it’s positively tranquil. You’re truly feel in your own space, it’s quiet and it’s peaceful. Lovely stuff.
Dealing direct with Simon (the owner, and grateful recipient of our celebratory flowers and chocolate) means the process of viewing and ultimately booking the venue is super simple. He’s on hand to help throughout the process and is passionate about getting amazing projects into the space. It’s offered as dry hire and perfect for product launches, filming and photo shoots plus dinners, corporate events, cocktail parties, workshops and screenings.
