Designed to merge with the surrounding greenery and environment of the neighbourhood, described as pastoral as far back as the 15th century, Sands End Arts & Community Centre is a tranquil hideaway from bustling central London. Nestled beside Hammersmith and Fulham's South Park, the Centre sits in the shade of walnut trees and was the winner of the RIBA London Awards Building of the Year award in 2022. The structure of the space is inspired by the horticulturalists' glasshouses that filled South Park in the 19th century. The modern space is fully accessible, and is designed to bring tranquility to your event. It boasts warm-toned brick walls and floors, pre-patinated copper details, and green-stained timber walls.
The Centre features four bookable spaces: the Main Hall, the Lodge, the Pavilion, and the Meeting Room. The Centre can also be booked out in its entirety for large special events, such as wedding receptions. Each interior space has its own character. The Main Hall boasts vast open space and two sets of double doors that can be opened onto the front courtyard and community gardens, making it the perfect space for large gatherings, indoor sports activities, and children's parties with inflatables and entertainment. The Lodge is a refurbished version of Clancarty Lodge, the original Edwardian park lodge and café,dating from 1903. A character property, it features two floors and a private entrance for an intimate, cosy atmosphere. The Pavilion is located away from the main Centre grounds within South Park, making it the perfect spot for parties with outdoor activities. Finally, the Meeting Room is connected to the Centre's reception and has doors opening onto the patio of the Walnut Tree Cafe, making it the ideal space for corporate meetings with close access to coffee, tea, pastries, and assistance from the Centre staff.
All booking and hiring fees to the Sands End Arts & Community Centre go towards funding the important community work that we do, improving inclusion and accessibility, fostering the potential of young residents, and bridging the socioeconomic gaps in Parson's Green.
