Sunley Room

The Sunley Room is the most historic of the Royal Institution's ground floor spaces for hire. Located by the main reception, with large windows to allow in the glow of natural daylight, the Sunley Room provides a perfect space for meetings and conferences. 

With its wooden floors and period features, the Sunley Room also offers the ideal intimate private dining venue, making an unforgettable evening for your guests. 
 

Initially known as the Council Room, the Sunley Room is the meeting space for the Board of Trustees of the Royal Institution. The Council Room changed names in the late 20th Century to be named after the late Bernard Sunley (1910–1964), a generous benefactor to the Royal Institution who took a pioneering role in the reconstruction of England after the Second World War.  

The Sunley Room, lined with historic books and statues and featuring a historic portrait of Humphry Davy and his famous miners’ safety lamp, is a true showcase to the history of the Royal Institution and all who have met there.
